New York Salad

Ingredients:

  • 1 red skinned apple
  • 1 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 100g mixed salad leaves
  • 75g white cabbage, roughly chopped
  • 2 sticks of celery, trimmed and sliced.
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 50g walnut pieces
  • 25g sultanas
  • 100g mature cheddar cheese, coarsely grated
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Method:

  1. Core and dice the apple and toss in the lemon juice to prevent discolouration.
  2. Mix together the salad leaves, chopped cabbage and celery with the mayonnaise. For consistent results and to save time we recommend using a multi-chopper when preparing the salad ingredients. Divide between 4 individual salad bowls.
  3. Mix together the walnut pieces, apple pieces and sultanas. Divide this mixture between the 4 salad bowls.
  4. Finally sprinkle over the grated cheese and season to taste.

    Serves 4
